Kai Wang
Professor
Group of Viral Infection and Metabolic Rewiring
Kai Wang, a professor in Chongqing Medical University, China. He received Ph.D from Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2012, specifically focusing on viral ion channels and antiviral drugs. From 2013 to 2015 he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences (SIBS). Since 2015 he is working at Key Laboratory of Molecular Biology for Infectious Diseases (Ministry of Education), Chongqing Medical University. The lab is concerned with hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). His current research focuses on the crosstalk between cell metabolism and signaling pathways, as well as identification of new therapeutic targets for HCC treatment. He is also interested in how viruses alter the metabolism of host cells, and how these changes can be exploited to develop antiviral strategies.
