研究领域

如何延长生物体的健康寿命是代谢调控与衰老领域的重大科学问题。在过去的几十年间,生物学家以秀丽隐杆线虫、果蝇、小鼠等为模式动物,在不断地探索中发现寿命主要受环境和遗传两方面因素的影响。然而,尽管目前科学家已鉴定出超过800个潜在能够影响长寿的基因,如何延缓衰老进程或延长生物体的健康寿命仍是一个亟待攻克的难题,并被Science杂志列为125个最具挑战的科学问题之一。我们实验室致力于以细胞、线虫、小鼠等为生物模型,利用遗传学、系统生物学、转录组学、分子生物学等手段,揭示细胞核心代谢通路与健康寿命调控之间复杂的相互作用关系,并探索与开发能延长生物体健康寿命的药物和方法。目前的研究工作主要集中在三个方面:1.衰老及衰老相关疾病(如阿尔茨海默病、亨廷顿病、肌肉萎缩症等)发生的细胞与代谢生物学基础。2.代谢适应或应激反应通路(如线粒体非折叠蛋白反应、溶酶体监察反应等)影响生物体健康与长寿的分子机制。3.寻找与开发可以优化细胞核心代谢调控通路激活水平、提升健康指标(如运动能力、蛋白沉积物积累、氧气消耗等)、延缓衰老相关疾病发生和延长生物体寿命的药物与方法。
