Pengfei Cao Professor at Beijing University of Chemical Technology
Professor Cao is a full professor in School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT). He has been a staff scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) before joining BUCT. He serves the associate editor of RSC Applied Polymers and Supramolecular Materials, Editorial Board of Macromolecules, MRS Communications and Scientific Reports. Prof. Cao has published over 100 journal publications with more than 60 papers as the corresponding/1st author. In the past 3 years, he led 10 research projects (4 projects after joining BUCT). Prof. Cao has also been awarded the R&D 100 Award of 2021, ACS-PMSE Young-Investigator Award of 2021and the ACS-Rising Star in Materials Science of 2023. His current research interests are synthetic elastomer for energy-related applications, including Li-battery applications (e.g., polymer electrolytes, polymeric protective layers) and functional elastic materials (e.g., toughening, self-healing, recyclable or adhesive elastomers).

The research focuses on the molecule-level design, synthesis, physical analysis of elastic polymers along with their energy-related applications. 1) Recyclable (or Upcycling), Self-healable and Adhesive Elastomers 2) Solid Polymer Electrolyte, Polymer Binder and Protective Layer for Li Batteries 3) Sealants and 3D Printing etc.
