Dr.HisashiTadakumagraduatedfromWasedaUniversityinJapanin1995,andobtainedaPh.D.degreefromWasedauniversityunderthesupervisionofProfessorTakashiFunatsuin2004.HewasanAssistantProfessorinWasedaUniversity(Funatsulab,from2001to2003),andinTheUniversityofTokyo(Tomishigelab,from2003to2008).AfterashortpostdoctoralresearchinTheUniversityofTokyo(Ueda/Taguchilab),hebecameanAssistantProfessorinTheUniversityofTokyo(TakuyaUedalab,from2010-2014).ThenhedidhissecondshortpostdoctoralresearchatthelaboratoryofProfessorYoshieHaradaatKyotoUniversity,andbecameanAssistantProfessorofHaradalabatOsakaUniversity,from2016-2019.HejoinedShanghaiTechUniversityasanAssistantProfessorinNov2019

Transcriptionisthefirststepofgeneexpressionandthusquiteimportant.Ourlabfocusesonunderstandingthebasicmechanismoftranscriptionandappliestheknowledgetodevelopnovelgeneexpressioncontrolnano-devices.Todothat,wewillcombineasyntheticbiologyapproach(reconstitutionofbiologicalsystems)andabiophysicalapproach(singlemoleculeimaging),andwillbuildupuniquenano-chips.Withthenano-chips,wewillmimicthetranscriptionsystemandwillunderstandtheunderlyingmechanism.Furthermore,wewilldevelopautonomousnano-devicesthatcansensetheenvironment,computeinformationandoutputproduct,allowingustheprecisecontrolofcellfate.Inthefuture,programmablegeneexpressionsystemwillopenthewaytoautonomouslycureourbody
