An internationally recognized expert in lung transplantation, he serves as the director of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and the medical director of the Lung Transplantation Program. Dr. Orens received his M.D. from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center and performed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Michigan Hospitals. Dr. Orens joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1998. His research interests include clinical outcomes of lung transplantation, chronic allograft rejection and ischemic reperfusion injury.

研究领域

Clinical outcomes of lung transplantation; Chronic allograft rejection; Ischemic reperfusion injury ("primary graft dysfunction")

Dr. Orens’ research has focused on lung transplant outcomes, assessing risk factors for the development of chronic allograft rejection and primary graft dysfunction, and developing new treatment strategies.
