Dr. Anika Alvanzo is an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her areas of clinical expertise include addiction medicine and internal medicine. Dr. Alvanzo serves as the medical director of the Substance Use Disorders Consultation Service. Dr. Alvanzo received her M.D. from the George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her residency and a fellowship in internal medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. Her research interests include screening and brief interventions for at-risk substance use, and race/ethnicity and sex differences in substance use disorders.
