Molecular diversity is an important and recurring theme in modern organic and biological chemistry; whether it be for the medicinal chemist wishing to develop a new class of pharmaceutical based on an original structural template, or the organometallic chemist looking at catalyst design and wanting to move beyond the currently available ligands. We have addressed this issue in our laboratory by developing synthetic methods and catalytic systems that allow for facile and direct access to compounds with new molecular structures and architectures.
