Dr. Cassandra Parsons is a May 2012 graduate from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Albany, New York. Cassandra, a native of Hermon, Maine, is proud to be a licensed pharmacist in her home state. After earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Cassandra completed a post-graduate year-1 pharmacy practice residency at the VA Maine Healthcare System in Augusta. During that time, she participated in rotations encompassing primary care, internal medicine, quality management and administration, home-based primary care, geriatrics, inpatient pharmacy, anticoagulation clinic, mental health, oncology, and antibiotic stewardship. In addition, Cassandra created a pharmacy resident geriatric clinic, implemented a venous thromboembolism prophylaxis protocol, earned a teaching certificate, and presented a medical grand rounds at the VA hospital. The VA Maine Healthcare System serves as Cassandra’s clinical practice site. Husson students on Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiential (APPE) rotations will discover the VA to be an extraordinary site to learn and practice their profession. Dr. Parsons represents Husson University School of Pharmacy as a clinical pharmacist for the spinal cord injury clinic. Cassandra’s career began at the age of fifteen as a pharmacy technician in retail. Over time, she gained experience working for pharmacies at Wal-Mart, CVS, and Rite Aid. Cassandra is a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP), a Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (CGP), and a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, Maine Pharmacy Association, Maine Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Maine Pharmacy Association and currently serves as President-Elect for the organization. Cassandra was a recipient of both the Albany College of Pharmacy Dean’s Scholarship and the Verizon Scholarship. In 2012, she was selected as a Who’s Who of American Universities. She also received awards for the 2015-2016 P4 Teacher of the Year, 2015-2016 Faculty Experiential Educator of the Year, and the 2016 Distinguished Young Pharmacist for Maine. Dr. Parsons is a former player for the women’s soccer and basketball teams at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. During her college sports career, she competed on three division championship teams. Cassandra has finished eighteen triathlons with her sister, Alayna. Outside of work, Cassandra enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
