个人简介

Dr. Charles (Jody) Neef is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Pittsburg State University. His responsibilities include teaching organic chemistry and research in the area of electroactive polymers. Prior to PSU, he worked at Texas State University as a lecturer and researcher on nanocomposites, electroactive polymers, and light sensitive compounds. At Brewer Science, Inc. he developed materials [BARCs, DBARCs, and hardmasks] for the semiconductor industry. At the University of Texas at Dallas with Dr. John Ferraris, he worked with electrically conducting polymers, polythiophenes and polyphenylene vinylenes, for capacitor and OLED applications. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Oklahoma in 1997 and performed research in the area of ferrocene containing polymers and composites. During his studies for his B.S. and M.S. at Texas State University, his research included thermally stable, fluorinated polymers and copolyimidine-esters. Dr. Neef has eighteen publications and eight patents granted. Ph.D., Organic Chemistry, The University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma, U.S.A., 1996 Dissertation Title: Synthesis, Preparation, and Electronic Properties of Ferrocene-Containing Polymers and Composites Major Advisors: Drs. Kenneth M. Nicholas and Daniel T. Glatzhofer M.S., Chemistry, Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas, U.S.A., 1990 Thesis Title: Copoly(Imidine-Esters): Monomer and Polymer Synthesis Major Advisor: Dr. Patrick E. 研究领域

There are two main objectives in our laboratory.  The first objective is to synthesize and evaluate novel ferrocene-contaning copolymers for use in biosensors.  The second objective is the synthesis and characterization of thiophene-containing materials for energy storage applications or in photovoltaic applications.
