教育经历武汉建筑材料工业学院（现武汉理工大学前身）无机材料工程专业读本科，获工学学士学位 1980.09-1984.06 武汉工业大学（现武汉理工大学前身）无机非金属材料专业读硕士研究生，获工学硕士学位 1984.09-1987.06 湖南省轻工业高等专科学校轻化系硅酸盐教研室教师副教授，系副主任 1987.07-1999.08 中南大学材料学专业在职博士研究生，获工学博士学位 1999.09-2008.05 中南大学资源加工与生物工程学院无机材料系教授，副院长 1999.09-现在美国犹他大学材料科学与工程系访问学者 2010.12-2011.12
