个人简介

Paul Schmitt started at Wabash College in the summer of 2016, after completing his PhD at Purdue University. His research is centered around increasing the quality of emerging pharmaceutical materials. Many active ingredients currently under development are ineffective for treating disease if they are ingested while in their crystalline phase. Accordingly, these pharmaceuticals are often formulated in an amorphous (non-crystalline) state. Detection of any trace crystallinity in such a formulation and ensuring its long-term stability are both challenging tasks. Prof. Schmitt seeks to develop instrumentation and formulation strategies to help solve these and related problems. Outside of the classroom and lab, Prof. Schmitt enjoys many hobbies, including fly fishing, cooking, and playing music. He currently lives with his wife Nicole, a medical student at Marian University, in Zionsville, IN. They both have family nearby in Michigan and enjoy visiting with them on many weekends.
