I am interested in technologically relevant questions focused on the structure or properties of materials systems at small length scales, including problems in energy generation and storage, nanoscale or molecular electronics, and self-assembling systems. I am motivated to impact existing technology by applying and developing first-principles calculation techniques in order to address fundamental materials questions. Of particular interest to me are quantum mechanical calculations of atomic-scale dynamics, especially calculations employing time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT), an emerging method allowing ab initio calculation of electron dynamics.
