Richard Finkel was born in Brooklyn, New York. He received his B.S. from University of Florida College of Pharmacy. He was a registered pharmacist while on active duty for the U.S. Army (2 years) and then a pharmaceutical representative for McNeil Laboratories. He was a retail pharmacy employee for independents and chain pharmacy and purchased community pharmacy in 1971. Currently he is still the owner and part-time practitioner; and worked as owner-pharmacist until 1993. His post-grad course: Non-traditional Pharm.D. Course work and rotations: Southeastern College of Pharmacy (1988-1992) and received his Pharm.D. from Southeastern University College of Pharmacy 1992 He was employed as part time lab instructor and OTC instructor 1989-1993. From 1993 to the present: He has been employed full-time as clinical assistant professor at Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Adjunct faculty (Pharmacology) at the Physician Assistant programs; Barry University since 2001, Miami Fl, and Keiser University since 2010, Fort Lauderdale, Fl His teaching responsibilities have been: Pharmacy Calculations, Pharmaceutics Compounding Lab, Non-Prescription Therapies (OTC), and Patient Care Management course and lab. Electives currently being taught: Geriatric Patient Care Management (Online), Advanced Pharmaceutics Compounding (Live). He currently is a part-time consultant pharmacist for Vitas (Hospice) in Miami, Fl. He is the author of two textbooks: Patient Care Management and Pocket Guide for Nonprescription Product Therapeutics He is a collaborating editor for textbook: Lippincott’s Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology, 5th and 6th editions. Awards: The Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence, Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy. Seven awards in the past fourteen years.
