Dr. Lisa Deziel is Dean of the College of Pharmacy (COP), Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Prior to her appointment as Dean, Dr. Deziel served as a faculty member and transitioned through a number of administrative positions including Associate Professor and Executive Associate Dean, Interim Dean, Acting Chair of Pharmacy Practice, Assistant Dean for Academic Innovation and Technology, and Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs. She has served on a number of NSU and COP committees, many with a focus on assessment and accreditation. Dr. Deziel has been a faculty member with the COP since 1989 and has been instrumental in its growth over the years. Dr. Deziel has also served on a number of national committees through the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and the American Society of Health System Pharmacists and actively participates in pharmacy school site visits with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. She currently serves as a reviewer for several pharmacy journals. Dr. Deziel is a licensed pharmacist in Florida and Georgia, a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and a Fellow in the American Society of Health System Pharmacists. She has been involved in pharmacy education for over 25 years and, in addition to a B.S. in Pharmacy and a Pharm.D., holds a Ph.D. in Computer Technology, specializing in the use of technology in education. Her primary teaching and research interests have been in oncology, pharmacy education, pharmacy workforce issues, and technology and she has delivered national and international presentations in the area of pharmacy education. She has been the recipient of a number of awards including NSU Executive of the Year (2009), Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence (1991-1994 and 1996) and the Pine Crest Founder’s Aretè Society (1994). Dr. Deziel is a member of Rho Chi and Phi Lambda Sigma. Dr. Deziel did her undergraduate studies at Duke University and received her B.S. in Pharmacy and Pharm.D. degrees from Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy. She completed a residency in Clinical Pharmacy at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Dr. Deziel is a Canadian citizen and has one daughter who recently graduated from college. In her spare time, she pursues sea kayaking both as a participant and a coach.
