个人简介
Dr. A. Timothy Royappa, a Professor of Chemistry, is in UWF’s Distinguished Teaching Hall of Fame. To be accepted into the Hall of Fame, a teacher must win the UWF Distinguished Teaching Award three times. Dr. Royappa has won the Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching and Advising five times. He has a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Chemistry from Indiana University. His teaching responsibilities include classes in physical chemistry and polymer science.
Dr. Royappa’s current research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of copper(I) complexes for applications in microelectronics manufacture, pharmaceutical science, and nanoparticle synthesis. He is also interested in the fundamental chemistry of the synthesis of ligandless copper(I) salts. His findings have been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals such as Nature Chemistry, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Organometallics and Polyhedron.
Dr. Royappa has helped generate more than $2 million in grants for research by him, other faculty members and UWF students. He has been a scientific consultant to several companies. Before joining UWF in 1996, he was a senior research scientist for an analytical equipment company serving the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.
Ph.D. Physical Chemistry, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1992
B.S. Chemistry, Indiana University, 1985 (with highest distinction, honors)
