Dr. Erica Taylor is an Instructor in the Biology Department and Director of the NSF S-STEM Scholars Program for the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering. Taylor earned a doctorate in Cellular and Molecular Physiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a B.S. in Biology from Prairie View A&M University. Taylor, who won an SGA Teaching Award in 2015, teaches Biology and Anatomy and Physiology.
In her research, she has examined factors in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, synaptic plasticity at hippocampal synapse and the effects of O-GlcNAcylation at hippocampal synapses. Her work has been published in Circulation, Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology and Journal of Neuroscience. Dr. Taylor currently teaches Biology Skills and Anatomy and Physiology I. She has taught Biology I and Anatomy and Phsiology Lab I and II in the past.
