Dr. Khayat's research goal is to understand the life-cycle of particular DNA viruses at an atomic resolution. In particular we seek to characterize the mechanisms by which these viruses identify their hosts, acquire entry into the cell, modify the cellular cytoskeleton, deliver their genomes to the nucleus, replicate, assemble and egress from the cell.
