Since 2005, Terry Dowd has been associate professor of chemistry at Brooklyn College. Previously, Dowd was at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, N.Y., as an assistant professor, Division of Environmental Sciences, Department of Pediatrics, Montefiore Medical Center (1996-2005); instructor, Department of Physiology and Biophysics (1992-96); research associate, Department of Physiology and Biophysics (1987-92); and postdoctoral fellow, Department of Physiology and Biophysics (1986-87).

Dowd investigates the role of the protein osteocalcin in bone mineral properties during lead toxicity and low Mg2+ diets. She also investigates the molecular mechanism of how gap junctions between cells function.
