Professor Contel is a synthetic inorganic/organometallic chemist. Her subfields are homogenous catalysis (green chemistry) and medicinal chemistry. She synthesizes new gold compounds with potential applications as: a) recoverable homogenous catalysts, and b) anticancer drugs. She focuses on the study of reaction mechanisms by spectroscopic NMR techniques in order to rationally design more efficient and less toxic catalysts and drugs.
