个人简介
Dr. Hurt has been involved in medical education for more than 25 years, first at the University of Tennessee and later at the Baylor College of Medicine. She came to FSU in 1987 and joined the team of professors teaching biochemistry to medical students in the Program in Medical Sciences (PIMS). In 1992, Dr. Hurt became the Director of PIMS, working closely with the University of Florida College of Medicine to assure the quality of the first-year medical education program at FSU. In 1992, Dr. Hurt joined the faculty of the department of biological science, where she earned tenure. She taught microbiology to undergraduates, advanced molecular biology to graduate students, and taught an Honors Seminar in the FSU Honors Program. She served as acting dean of the new College of Medicine from 2000 to 2001. She was associate dean for student affairs, admissions and outreach from 2001-2004 and assumed the role of associate dean for research and graduate programs in 2004. She was named senior associate dean for research and graduate programs in 2009. She is the founding faculty member of the College of Medicine, and leads a molecular biology research group engaged in dissecting the regulation of cellular division at the molecular level through the phosphorylation of YY1. She enjoys working with students in the laboratory and has directed the research of nine students who earned their Ph.D. degree, two who earned an M.S., 2 more students currently working toward their degrees and over 30 undergraduate researchers at FSU since 1992.
