个人简介
Dr. Cole is an assistant professor of Chemistry at Fort Lewis College. She joined the college in 2015 and currently teaches analytical chemistry. In spring 2015, Cole received her Ph.D. in Analytical Astrochemistry as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Cole's research includes the reactivity and fragmentation of astrophysically-relevant ions and ion-neutral reaction kinetics using a flowing afterglow-selected ion flow tube (FA-SIFT) mass spectrometer.
Dr. Cole's work has recently been published in The Astrophysical Journal, Journal of the American Chemical Society, and the Journal of Physical Chemistry, to name a few. Conference presentations include the American Chemical Society, Denver, Colorado (2015), Astrochemistry of Dust, Ice, and Gas, Leinden, The Netherlands (2014) and the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, Minneapolis, Minnesota (2013).
Current environmental analytical chemistry projects include an analysis of heavy metal found in the Animas river following the 2015 Gold King Mine spill. Passionate about science education and outreach, Dr. Cole will share results of this research with her colleagues at Fort Lewis College and members of the Durango community.
