个人简介

Jimmie D. Weaver was born and raised here in Oklahoma. He completed B.S. in Chemistry with math and physics minors in 2004 from Southern Nazarene University where he was a defensive lineman on the football team during the teams early years. He spent the next year working in an immunology lab under the guidance of Prof. William Hildebrand, OUHSC where he learned many of the techniques used in biology, cell culture, ELISA assays, affinity chromatography, etc. After a year, Jimmie joined the graduate program at The University of Kansas where he worked with Prof. Jon Tunge. From 2005-2010 Jimmie developed Pd-mediated decarboxylative coupling reactions. After completion of his PhD, Jimmie took a post-doc position with Jon Ellman at Yale University in 2010, where he focused on catalyst development for asymmetric sulfinyl-urea catalyzed reactions. In the fall of 2012, Jimmie took an assistant professor position at Oklahoma State University where he has established an independent research program focused on the catalytic generation and exploitation of reactive intermediates for really cool applications such as C-H functionalization (mostly geared towards SAR studies), C-F functionalization and cross-coupling of perfluoroarenes, uphill catalysis, and environmental remediation of persistent organic pollutants.

研究领域

The Weaver group attempts to ask fundamentally interesting questions, understanding of which allows us to push the boundaries of what is possible. We are particularly interested in developing strategies that allow the catalytic generation of reactive interemediates as well as the behavior of these transient species. What we have learned has implications to several areas of broad interest including cross-coupling reactions, C-F functionalization chemistry, and even performing catalysis in a endergonic direction i.e. uphill catalysis. Out of our fundamental interest has grown a number of other interests which we pursue as a natural consequence of where the chemistry leads us.
