The Risbud group is active in processing and characterization of new materials for optical, electronic, and biological applications. The central theme is innovative synthesis and processing of glasses, ceramics, and gels applicable in nano and biotechnology. Processing techniques used include sol-gel processing, rapid powder consolidation, glass melting, femtosecond-laser induced nanocrystal nucleation. Our group collaborates with scientists at NCEM and ALS at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, LLNL, SLAC and Stanford University.
