研究领域
Organic Chemistry
Professor Charonnat's research interests are: 1) the total synthesis of natural products, and 2) the development of new synthetic methodology. The first project is a highly stereo- and regio-controlled total synthesis of the GABA antagonist, (-)-anisatin. This functionally complex sesquiterpene is one of very few naturally occurring beta-lactones. The second category includes studies on mild, selective Conia cyclizations, and conjugate additions to enol tosylates of alpha-dicarbonyl compounds.
