Physical Chemistry

Particle technology (A1), analytical tools and methods (A2), and multiscale (both temporal and spatial) modeling and simulation (A3) are Research Areas of central importance to all areas of EAM. Their overall goal is to develop common methods for fabricating building blocks (molecules and particles) that are required for formatting structures in the Research Area B, C, D and E. These four application-oriented Research Areas are organized in interdisciplinary process chains for the engineering of specific material classes (B Nanoelectronic Materials, C Photonic and Optical Materials, D Catalytic Materials and E Lightweight Materials). Demonstrators are developed in these Research Areas in close cooperation with external academic and industrial partners integrated in the EAM. Cross sectional topics A1, A2, A3: three interdisciplinary centers at FAU To provide the most sustainable research environment for excellence and to cement its strategic topics within the FAU three interdisciplinary university centers have been founded: CFPS – Center for Functional Particle Systems (A1), CENEM – Center for Nanoanalysis and Electron Microscopy (A2) and ZISC – Central Institute for Scientific Computing (A3).
