多年来,先后承担了金属材料工程、金属材料热处理、金属学、晶体学、陶瓷材料学等数门本科生和研究生课程,指导100多名本科生、30多名硕士生、14名博士生。学生获第四届“挑战杯”湖南省大学生创业计划竞赛金奖,第八届“挑战杯”湖南省大学生课外学术科技作品特等奖,第七届“挑战杯”中国大学生创业计划竞赛银奖,第十一届“挑战杯”全国大学生课外学术科技作品竞赛一等奖;长沙市第十一届大学生创新创业比赛唯一特等奖。主持中南大学首个教育部中外合作办学项目“中南大学与澳大利亚蒙纳士大学合作举办材料科学与工程专业本科教学项目”;主持湖南省教改项目《材料科学与工程学科人才培养国际化的研究》。
在国家自然科学基金计划、863计划、973计划等支持资助下,从事材料的合成、结构分析与性能研究。相关研究成果发表高水平论文100余篇,其中包括国际著名权威学术刊物:Energy & environmental science,Advanced Energy Materials, Nano Energy,Energy Storage Materials, Advanced Science, Nanoscale,Journal of Materials Chemistry, Journal of Power Sources, Electrochemistry Communications, Journal of American Ceramic Society, Journal of European Ceramic Society, Mesoporous and Microporous Materials等,申请专利10余项。科研获国家科技进步二等奖1项、部级科技进步一等奖1项、省级科技进步二等奖1项。专著《粉末注射成型流变学》获第五届国家图书奖提名奖、第十届全国优秀科技图书奖二等奖。
全国高等学校材料科学与工程实验管理理事会副理事长,中国材料研究学会理事,中国中国机械工程学会陶瓷分会副理事长,教育部材料物理化学学科教学指导分委员会委员。湖南省硅酸盐学会副理事长,政协湖南省委员会第九届、第十届委员。《Transaction of Nonferrous Metals Soociety of China》,《中国有色金属学报》,《稀有金属材料科学与工程》,《中南大学学报(自然科学版,英文版)》,《材料热处理学报》期刊编委;JACS,ACS Nano, Electrochemistry Communications, Journal of Physical Chemistry C 和Journal of Materials Chemistry A 等期刊的审稿人。
