After a long, enjoyable and successful career, Prof. Bewley is now retired and is no longer involved in research or teaching at the university. He retains an interest in seed biology and enjoys being involved in teaching and in advising research activities in several countries, including China, Brazil and the USA. He is also an advisor to research consortia in Europe. His research activities have resulted in over 270 research papers and reviews. He has also coauthored four books with Mike Black (his PhD advisor) on Seed Biology, has edited two books, co-edited The Encyclopedia of Seeds, Science, Technology and Uses with Mike Black and Peter Halmer, and co-authored the most recent version (3rd edition) of the graduate/researcher text on Seeds, Physiology of Development, Germination and Dormancy, with Kent Bradford, Henk Hilhorst and Hiro Nonogaki, published by Springer in 2012.
