研究领域
General research interest is in the area of Transport Phenomena (heat, mass, and momentum transfer) with
present and past projects dealing with crop drying, storage and handling, fuel alcohol production, ethanol
dehydration, solar energy applications to agriculture, storage of waste- and solar heat in phase-change
materials, energy conservation in greenhouses, recovery of heat in grain drying and tobacco curing, twophase
fluid flow, Non-Newtonian fluid mechanics, development of microcomputer control systems for crop
drying and storage, thermo-physical properties of biological products, microwave applications to biological
systems (animals and foods), and solid waste management with emphasis on composting of organic waste.
Research grants and contracts during the ten years prior to the directorship was about $ 2 million in cash plus
several million dollars of in-kind contributions resulting from access and use of industrial and municipal plants
and personnel. Most of the funds were supplied by industry, municipalities, NSERC (operating and strategic
grants) and several government ministries.
