Recent work was done at the School of Engineering, University of Guelph (from 1977). Earlier work was at the Department of Agricultural Engineering, now Bioresource Engineering, Macdonald College of McGill University (1963-77). Airflow in buildings. Mainly experimental work in a prototype swine barn. Information on airspeed at animal level and airflow patterns may be found. I have completed a new ventilation system performance standard for ASAE. There are some popular press articles in the Ontario Farmer. There is also some work on natural ventilation and on heat exchangers. Pig behaviour, operant response, dust generation and SEW. This pig work has been done in conjunction with Animal Scientists and Veterinarians. This includes operant techniques, studies on behaviour due to housing, the effect of housing variables on dust production, and segregated early weaning (SEW) housing, ventilation, transport and manure handling Agricultural Systems I have completed the software M-CLONE4, a Knowledge-based (or Expert) system for evaluating livestock manure handling systems. Knowledge based (Expert) Systems work has been done using Prolog [Turbo and PDC], CLIPS, VP-Expert, KnowledgePro++ and Visual C++. Simulation work on Sugar Cane Mechanization (in Jamaica) in the late 70's {Full thesis} and in Ventilation Systems using GASP IV (80's) and SLAMSYSTEM. Network Analysis using the Shortest Path technique was completed for manure systems in the 70's. Farming Systems Research deals with the relationship of farming units - especially dairy and swine, to the well being of a community. This is from a socio-economic and environmental view. A proceedings of the conference "Sustaining Agriculture in the 21st Century", held at Guelph in October 1999, was completed.
