INTRODUCTION: Dr Feng Yan received PhD degree in physics from Nanjing University in 1997. Soon afterwards, he became an assistant professor and then an associate professor at Physics Department of Nanjing University. During that period, he worked on ferroelectric thin films, relaxor ferroelectrics and C60. From Feb 2001 to Sep 2005, Dr Yan worked at Engineering Department (Electrical Engineering) of Cambridge University as a Senior Research Associate being in close collaboration with Seiko Epson Corporation (Japanese company). In Cambridge, Dr Yan worked on poly-Si TFT, single-grain TFT, organic TFT and biosensors. After a short stay at Physics Department of Imperial College London, Dr Yan became a permanent staff ¾ Higher Research Scientist, at National Physical Laboratory in UK. His work during this period was mainly focusing on the fabrication and characterization of organic TFTs. Then Dr Yan joined Applied Physics Department of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University as an assistant professor in September 2006. EDUCATION 1994–1997, Department of Physics, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China Ph.D., My PhD work was carried out in the group of Prof. Yening Wang. The research subject is “The electrical and mechanical properties and the phase transitions of C60 crystal”. 1992–1994, Department of Physics, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China Master. My research work was carried out in the group of Prof. Yening Wang. I had studied the dielectric properties and the grain size effect of polycrystalline C60. 1988–1992, Department of Physics, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China I got my BSc degree in the field of “condensed matter physics”.
