个人简介

Dr. O'Connor received a B.Sc. with Distinction in Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology from the University of Calgary in 1978, and a PhD in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Calgary in 1994. She then worked in the field of neural stem cell research as a Research Associate for Neurospheres Inc. In 1998, she switched to a career in post-secondary education, teaching a wide variety of courses for several institutions, including Mount Royal, the University of Calgary, Athabasca University, and the Renert Institute. In 2005, she accepted a tenure-track position with Mount Royal. She served as Chair of the Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences from January 2008 to August 2011. She enjoys teaching Microbiology, Biochemistry, Introductory Biology, Midwifery, and General Education courses. Her scholarship interest is Learning Outcomes and Assessment. She is very active at the institutional level; her service record includes Part-time Representative on the Mount Royal Faculty Association Executive, Chair of the General Education Standing Committee, Faculty Representative on General Faculties Council, Chair of the Learning Outcomes Standing Committee, Faculty Representative on the Academic Planning Committee, Faculty Representative on the Student Services Planning Committee, and Faculty Representative on the Academic and Student Services Plans Implementation Committee. In August 2013 Dr. O'Connor was appointed the Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Programs and Planning, for the Faculty of Science and Technology.
