研究领域

INNOVATIONS IN DESALINATION PROCESSES & SYSTEMS Activities are focused on membrane distillation (MD), integrating MD with forward osmosis (FO) e.g. FO-MD process, and hybrid systems using adsorption desalination (AD), e.g. AD-MED and AD-MD. BIOTECHNOLOGIES FOR WASTEWATER REUSE (ENERGY HARVESTING/MINIMIZATION & NUTRIENT RECOVERY) The aim of this Theme is to develop advanced biological wastewater treatment technologies for water reuse and energy harvesting. A focus area within Theme B is anaerobic processes coupled with membrane technology. MATERIALS AND MEMBRANES FOR WATER, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT This Theme promotes innovations in water purification/desalination and reuse through rational design, synthesis and application of new (nano)materials, membranes, and multi functionalized surfaces. HYDROLOGIC SYSTEMS: MONITORING, SENSING & MODELING Project activities are focused on the observation and modeling of water resources in Saudi Arabia as well as characterizing the water use and productivity of agricultural systems, with a focus on improving food and water security. SUSTAINABLE WATER TECHNOLOGIES IN INDUSTRY & AGRICULTURE / AQUACULTURE The main focus of this Theme is design and implementation of advanced water treatment technology for treatment and reuse of industrial effluents, and novel water conservation and hybrid treatment techniques in agriculture and aquaculture.
