个人简介

I received B.Sc. (Honors) and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Calgary. My Ph.D. thesis was on the mechanisms of ultrafast photochemical ligand dissociation in metal isocyanide complexes. After a short post-doc at the University of Calgary, I joined the teaching faculty at Mount Royal College, where I taught courses in general chemistry, industrial organic chemistry, and air pollution monitoring. I was the first to build a blended-delivery chemistry course at Mount Royal, which was how I became interested in distance learning.

In chemistry, my research interests generally involve "extreme chemistry", which is chemistry that occurs under microscopic conditions of high temperature and/or pressure. This interest started with photochemistry and picosecond fswwlash photolysis. Now, I'm working in sonochemistry, which uses power ultrasound to induce radical mediated chemical change in liquids. My research activities extend to the realm of education. I am researching the use of online whiteboards and other educational technology to facilitate distance education.
