个人简介

Ross began his post-secondary academic career at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick where, as an undergraduate, he studied free-radical chemistry (under the guidance of Dr. Ross Barclay) as well as organosulfur chemistry (under the guidance of Dr. Richard Langler). Along the way, he became interested in bio-organic chemistry and thus undertook the synthesis of 13C-labelled amino acids (under the supervision of Dr. Robert White) at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia: these amino acids were prepared for the purpose of elucidating some metabolic pathways in several anaerobic bacteria. Upon completion of his M.Sc. at Dalhousie, Ross's interests shifted towards organometallic chemistry and, under the tutelage of Dr. Jeffrey Stryker at the Unversity of Alberta, Ross investigated a number of cobalt-mediated cycloaddition reactions as part of his doctoral research.
