个人简介

Dr. McFadyen completed his PhD in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta. His doctoral research involved the application of molecular and cytogenetic methods to probe the organization and evolution of a multigene family in rodents. He completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Alberta where he contributed to the physical mapping efforts of human chromosome 14. Dr. McFadyen has been a faculty member in the Department of Biological Sciences since 1998, serving as chair from 2008 to 2014. He teaches introductory, eukaryotic, and human genetics as well as genome organization. Dr. McFadyen’s research focuses on the development and application of molecular tools for species identification and phylogenetic analysis of orchids.
