Dr Pauly's research interest focuses on intensive home hemodialysis and where these therapies (nocturnal hemodialysis and short daily hemodialysis) fit into the spectrum of end-stage renal disease treatment options. Current work compares survival and quality of life between nocturnal dialysis patients and deceased donor transplant recipients. Dr Pauly collaborates widely across Canada and is involved in efforts to define Canadian practice patterns and creating clinical practice guidelines for conducting home hemodialysis. The overarching aim of his research activities is to encourage broad based uptake of intensive home dialysis therapies.
