Chris has been teaching in Further and Higher Education for over twenty years and is also an Associate Lecturer with the Open University. He has been an External Examiner for more than ten years in five different UK Universities. In the mid 1980s he was a Research Chemist for Allied Colloids in West Yorkshire before moving into education. During the 1990s he received funding to the value of £180K for a total of three Teaching Company Associates. These projects resulted in significant development of chemical-based products for two West Midlands companies.

Chris’s research interests are centred around the synthesis and characterisation of small molecules that have potential in the treatment of cancer. In particular, he is currently working on a library of rare and novel salicylate compounds which are able to suppress the growth of colorectal and other cancer cells. In conjunction with Dr Iain Nicholl, these molecules are now being tested at Wolverhampton and in a number of collaborating centres including Edinburgh, Central Lancashire and Aston Universities.
