个人简介

Ruben Martin was born in Barcelona in 1976. He received his Ph.D in 2003 at the Universitat de Barcelona with Prof. Antoni Riera, working on the total synthesis of glycosidases inhibitors. In January 2004 he moved to the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung as a Humboldt postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Alois Fürstner, where he worked on the application of novel iron catalysts for cross-coupling and Alder-ene type reactions. In May 2005 he undertook further postdoctoral studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a MEC postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Stephen L. Buchwald where he developed new synthetic strategies for metal-catalyzed C-C and C-N bond-forming reactions. In September 2008 he joined the ICIQ as a group leader. His current research interests concern the discovery and development of synthetically useful organometallic methodologies. Rubén Martín was promoted to Associate Professor in July 2013.In october 2013, he became ICREA (Catalan Institution of Research and Advanced Studies) Research Professor. During his time at ICIQ, he has received the 2010 RSEQ Young InvestigatorAward, the 2011 Thieme Chemistry Journal Award, the Eli Lilly Young Research Investigator Award 2011, the 2015 RSEQ Excellent Research Award . More recently, he has received the ERC Starting Grant awarded by the European Research Council, the 2017 Marcial Moreno Lectureship Award and the 2017 OMCOS Award.

研究领域

Committed to a sustainable future Chemistry is the best tool we have to solve the challenges of today and improve our quality of life. ICIQ research groups work in many different areas, from computational chemistry to the development of industrial processes and patents. All of ICIQ groups share the same goal: to attain sustainability. Here at ICIQ we have a multidisciplinary approach to research, encouraging all sort of collaborations: in-house, national, and international. We also work on Science Policy to position chemical research in the European research strategy agenda. We also believe in excellent research. Since March 2014 we are recognised as a Severo Ochoa Excellence Centre by the Spanish Government. We are also proud of our researchers, that received a total of 15 European Research Council (ERC) grants. The ERC’s mission is to encourage the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and to support investigator-driven frontir research across all fields, on the basis of scientific excellence.
