Waheed's research covers thermodynamics of carbon capture and utilization, impact of sulphur species on oil and gas systems, gas hydrates, lignocellulosic products, and applications of ionic liquids in chemical processes. He has managed research projects funded by the Gas Processors Association, Institut Fran?ais du Pétrole, and US Department of Energy while working in France, Denmark and the US.
Before joining the University of Aberdeen in 2015, Waheed had been an Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering at the University of the Punjab, Lahore for several years. He received his 3-year post-doctoral training from the University of California, Berkeley. He attended école Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris (MINES ParisTech) for PhD in Process Engineering and the University of the Punjab, Lahore for MS in Total Quality Management and BSc (Engg) in Chemical Engineering. He also attended the University of Aberdeen for PgCert in Higher Education. Based on his doctoral work, he was awarded the “Docteur de L’Union Européenne”. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy of the United Kingdom.
