个人简介
I am an academic clinical epidemiologist at Aberdeen University Medical School and I also work for NHS Grampian as a Consultant in Public Health Medicine (PHM) - with a particular interest in cardiovascular disease and responsibility for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening. I also take part in the PHM on-call rota for health protection.
After graduating in medicine (MB ChB, 1987) I trained in both general practice (MRCGP, 1991) and PHM (MPH, 1993; MFPHM, 1996) at Liverpool University, before completing a doctorate in clinical epidemiology at Manchester University (MD, 2003). My research interest is in the non-invasive assessment of arterial function using techniques such as pulse wave analysis (PWA).
I am the director for the Masters in Public Health (MPH) programme here in Aberdeen and contribute to both undergraduate medical education and post-graduate teaching/training. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA, 2007) and I have been involve with teaching evidence based medicine (EBM) at Oxford University for over 20 years.
