Following graduation with an MSc Medical Statistics from Newcastle University in 1987, I worked as a research statistician in the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit, University of Dundee between 1987-1993. Following sucessful award of my PhD, I moved to the Wolfson Unit for Peripheral Vascular Diseases, University of Edinburgh and worked as a senior research fellow for 9 years. In 2003, I joined the Univeristy of Aberdeen and worked in the Department of Primary Care as statistician. I was made Reader in 2004 and Professor in 2006. I am currently Deputy Head of the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) and lead both the IAHS Medical Statistics Team and the IAHS Postgraduate Education Group.
