个人简介

Alison is a part time Senior Lecturer and Disability Tutor in the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Westminster (UoW) and an experienced healthcare practitioner. Alison's academic background includes social sciences, comparative religion and complementary therapies. Alison is has been a practicing homeopath since 1994 and has taught at a number of homeopathy colleges. She is also trained ILM Coach and Mentor and CPCAB training in counselling skills. In addition to her teaching and training experience, Alison is a published author and an international conference speaker on healthcare and education. Work and research experience Alison's particular areas of expertise are interpersonal communication and mental health, and she has considerable experience of working in these areas. She has run clinics and workshops on health and wellbeing for Sure Start and has conducted research with children and families within NHS settings. Alison has a long standing interest in research. Between 1995 and 1996 she co- conducted a randomized comparison of homeopathic and standard care for the treatment of glue ear in children, which was published in two journals. In 2010 Alison completed a two-year research project examining the clinical experiences of a group of CAM student practitioners attending the University polyclinic. This work represents a novel understanding of complementary therapy student learning and coping strategies.She is completing a Professional Doctorate in Education. Her dissertation is an ethnographic exploration of staff experiences of Learning and Development programmes.
