个人简介

I graduated from Bristol with a bachelor's degree in veterinary science and spent one year in general practice. I was awarded a Wellcome Trust Scholarship that funded an MSc in epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and then a PhD at the University of Bristol. I moved to Warwick in 1999 after 6 years as a lecturer at the University of Bristol. I was promoted to a personal chair in 2005 and became Head of School in 2014. I am a Visiting Professor at the University of Nottingham.

研究领域

I am interested in complex bacterial diseases of livestock that persist and cause endemic morbidity and production losses. I am currently working on footrot in sheep and mastitis in sheep and cattle. I collaborate with environmental microbiologists and modellers to advance our understanding of control of these diseases. I use epidemiological tools to provide evidence for best control of endemic diseases, sometimes ahead of understanding why some managements are most effective. I work directly with farmers and veterinarians to understand their motivations for managing endemic diseases in collaboration with psychologists. I am also interested in the welfare of livestock and how disease, surveillance and monitoring can impact on animal welfare.
