As a synthetic chemist I am interested in developing new methodologies and applying these to the preparation of highly functional polymers and materials. These materials are exploited to prepare hybrid materials (biological/(in)organic) through the development of complimentary coupling/conjugation technologies with particular attention focused on modulating the stability, efficacy and/or administration of therapeutic peptides. Ongoing projects include; • Synthesis of high precision (multi)functional polymer scaffolds • The use of enzymes to mediate radical polymerisations and post-polymerisation modifications • Electrochemically-mediated radical polymerisation and surface modification • Development of novel methods of protein/peptide-polymer conjugation • Engineering (hormone) peptide-polymer conjugates to investigate binding, internalisation, cell and endosomal signalling of G protein-coupled receptors towards treating degenerative and neuroendocrine malignancies • Engineering specific glycopolymer-lectin interactions for immunotherapy
