个人简介

I am currently a senior research fellow in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Warwick working with Prof. Peter J. Sadler. My research looks into the mechanism of action of metal-based drugs for anticancer treatments. Although I am a chemist by training, I now enjoy doing cellular biology and being responsible for the mechanistic biological assays of our research group. Originally, I came to Warwick in 2009 to do my PhD in the Sadler group. My project dealt with the design, synthesis and characterisation of ruthenium 'piano-stool' complexes as well as the investigation into their mechanism of action as anticancer agents. I guess I was having so much fun with my project, that I jumped at the oportunity to stay as a postdoctoral researcher! Before coming to do my PhD, I was working at the University of Los Andes, back in Venezuela. There, I did my MSc on transition metal complexes with N,S- and N,O-bidentate ligands as well as my undergraduate degree. For the latter, my research project - 1 year - dealt with the synthesis and characterisation of tetrahydroquinoline derivatives.
