个人简介

I obtained a BSc(Hon) in Natural Sciences with Biology and Chemistry from the Open University in 2006, while working at the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment, University of Southampton. In 2007 I joined Clinical Neurosciences, University of Southampton to work with Dr. Delphine Boche, Prof. James Nicoll and Prof. Clive Holmes on a project following the Elan A-beta42 immunisation clinical trial against Alzheimer's Disease. Later in 2007 I started a part-time PhD focusing on the role and profile of microglia in pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease and following the A-beta42 immunisation treatment. I obtained my PhD in 2012. I then joined the Mass Spectrometry Unit at the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre, University of Southampton, working with Prof. Tony Postle, Mr. Ramsey Cuttress and Dr. Steve Wootton on developing an ultra-sensitive assay for detection of very low concentrations of oestrogens. During the two years of this project I also spent 3 months in the National Research Centre for Maternal and Child Health in Astana, Kazakhstan, developing research links in the area of preterm infant nutrition. This initiative was sponsored by the British Council Researcher Links programme. In 2015 I returned to Clinical Neurosciences to work with Dr. Ian Galea on the project investigating the influence of systemic infections on the progression of disability in patients with Multiple Sclerosis (SIMS Study, www.southampton.ac.uk/strims).

研究领域

My research interest is in the role of immune system and nutrient availability and metabolism in the development, homeostasis, healthy ageing and degeneration of the central nervous system.
