个人简介

Dr Emma Teasdale is a Research Fellow in the Primary Care and Population Sciences academic unit. She recently completed her PhD on understanding behavioural responses to acute respiratory infections. Her work used qualitative research methods to explore public perceptions of non-pharmaceutical interventions that aim to reduce the transmission of acute respiratory infections. She previously worked as a Research Associate at Kings College London and within the Academic Unit of Psychology at University of Southampton. Her work involved conducting qualitative and quantitative studies to promote early presentation of breast cancer in older women, to improve the working lives of cancer health professionals, to explore and predict how people behave in response to influenza pandemics, and to develop and pilot a DVD-based behavioural intervention for improving asthma symptom control. She is currently undertaking qualitative work in chronic kidney disease and childhood eczema.

研究领域

Dr Teasdale is interested in using qualitative research methods to understand people’s behaviour in response to health threats. She is also interested in developing and evaluating online behavioural interventions that promote health and well-being within a primary care context. She is currently undertaking a systematic review and meta-synthesis of patients’ perceptions and experiences of chronic kidney disease. This work aims to provide a higher order interpretation of existing qualitative data on patients’ understanding of CKD diagnosis and management, and contribute towards a theory to explain how patients conceptualise CKD and how understanding of the condition influences management choices. She is also conducting a qualitative analysis of eczema and parenting online discussion forums to explore parents/carers’ views of topical corticosteroids for managing their children’s eczema.
