个人简介
Dr Marta Ewa Polak leads a Systems Immunology Group in Medicine at the University of Southampton.
Marta E Polak trained in biotechnology at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland and graduated obtaining MSc degree in molecular biology. During her post-graduate project under the supervision of Prof Ian Cree and Dr Martine Jager she investigated the role of dendritic cells (DCs) in melanoma, and obtained the PhD in medicine at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. In 2008 she moved to Southampton and joined Dr Michael Ardern-Jones in the newly formed Innate Immunity Group, in a project exploring the mechanisms of regulation of immune responses in human skin. In July 2012, she was awarded the Faculty of Medicine Career Track Award to investigate molecular mechanisms regulation the function of human dendritic cells.
She has now received a prestigious Sir Henry Dale Fellowship from Wellcome Trust, for a project which combines immunological, signalling and bioinformatic investigational approaches as a means to fundamentally understand the mechanisms of immune regulation in human skin.
研究领域
Dr Polak’s research interest is focused on the mechanisms of regulation of immune responses by human tissue resident dendritic cells (DCs). To be able to investigate the biology of human cutaneous DCs, she has optimized the methods for isolation of viable and functional DC subsets from different human skin compartments. Employing a variety of approaches, including in vitro analysis of DC and T cell phenotype and function, transcriptome network reconstruction and in silico modelling Dr Polak investigates the individual roles of these cell types in regulation of human cutaneous immune responses and molecular mechanisms underpinning their function.
