Dr Ben Marshall is Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Medicine within Medicine at the University of Southampton. Ben is currently the Lead Consultant Physician in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at the University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He was appointed 14 years ago in 2000. He joined the faculty of Medicine in 2006, for 3/10 th of his week, on the BM4 programme. His responsibilities here involve teaching, developing teaching materials for the graduate group tutorials, staff recruitment and development. He also teaches on the BM5 programme, and supervises third and fifth years on his respiratory firm at the hospital.

His research interests include the understanding the immune responses involved in protective immunity and predisposition to mycobacterial infections as well as in interstitial lung diseases that lead to lung fibrosis.
