个人简介

Dr Timothy Hinks is Associate Professor, University of Southampton, Honorary Consultant in Respiratory Medicine, University Hospitals Southampton, Wellcome Trust Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Melbourne within Medicine at the University of Southampton. Dr Hinks was appointed as an Associated Professor in 2015 and a Wellcome Trust Postdoctoral Fellow to study the role mucosal associated invariant T cells in the human lung, jointly at the University of Southampton and the University of Melbourne. This follows on from his clinical lectureship and Wellcome-funded PhD investigating the role of T cell subsets in the airways in asthma. He undertook his preclinical training in Cambridge, including a BA project looking at neuromuscular function in mice transgenic for the Huntington’s mutation. He completed his clinical training, house officer and senior house officer rotations in Oxford. He then undertook a 2 year period of research with Ajit Lalvani’s T cell biology group in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine investigating the application of ELISpot technology for the diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis, the dynamics of T cell responses in active versus latent tuberculosis, and the clinical utility of RD1 ELISpot for diagnostic evaluation of patients with suspected active tuberculosis in routine practice. He subsequently held specialist registrar appointments in Oxford, Ascot, Dorchester and Southampton, where he was awarded an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship, and subsequently a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship. and Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellowship.

研究领域

He currently maintains his interest in pulmonary T cell responses in respiratory infection. investigating the functions of pulmonary MAIT cells with Prof Jim McCluskey and Prof Gary Anderson at the Doherty Institute and University of Melbourne.
